Mac Agent download

Install the Mac side of your local backup lane.

VaultCopy Agent is the part that can safely read your vault folder. It creates and verifies snapshots, pairs with iPhone on your local network, and restores `.vaultcopy` packages only into a new empty folder.

Download the current VaultCopy Agent for Mac. This release is signed with Developer ID, notarized by Apple, stapled for Gatekeeper, and served from the same stable path used by Sparkle updates.

Requirements

  • ✓macOS 14 or newer for VaultCopy Agent.
  • ✓Mac and iPhone on the same reachable local network for pairing and backup.
  • ✓A local Markdown or Obsidian vault folder on the Mac.
  • ✓The iPhone app is required for off-Mac local snapshot storage.

Install steps

The Agent is intentionally visible: you choose the vault, see pairing state, and keep the backup path understandable before anything is trusted.

Open the DMG

Download `VaultCopy-Agent.dmg`, open it, and move VaultCopy Agent to Applications.

Launch VaultCopy Agent

The menu-bar app starts the bundled local server and chooses an available vault when possible.

Choose a vault

Select the Markdown vault folder you want to protect. VaultCopy reads it to create a snapshot; it does not edit the vault content.

Pair iPhone

Open the iPhone app and scan the Mac Agent QR code while both devices are locally reachable.

Updates

VaultCopy Agent uses Sparkle 2. The app checks the static appcast at `/appcast.xml`, shows an update action only when a newer build is available, and lets Sparkle verify the downloaded DMG before installing. These paths must remain stable for the Mac Agent release channel.
