Help for the local backup chain.

Most VaultCopy issues are about one of three links: the Mac Agent can read the vault, the local network can connect Mac and iPhone, and the iPhone has enough room to keep a verified copy.

Before contacting support

  • Install the latest VaultCopy Agent from Download.
  • Keep the Mac Agent open in the macOS menu bar.
  • Keep Mac and iPhone on the same reachable local network.
  • If pairing is stale, use Check Mac or scan the QR code again.
  • If backups are encrypted, keep the passphrase safe.

Please include your macOS version, iPhone model, VaultCopy version, vault size if known, and the step where the workflow stopped.

Do not send passphrases, pairing tokens, full QR payloads, restore packages, or note contents.

Common checks

Install

If macOS blocks the app, confirm you downloaded `VaultCopy-Agent.dmg` from this domain and that Gatekeeper reports a notarized Developer ID app.

Pair

Open the Mac Agent, show the QR code, and scan from iPhone while both devices are on the same reachable local network.

Restore

Restore only into a new or empty folder. VaultCopy intentionally refuses to overwrite an existing vault, even during support troubleshooting.
